How We Use AI: Our Commitments to You
At Curated Leadership, our approach to artificial intelligence (AI) is human centred, AI powered and human in the loop. AI supports our work. It never replaces our relationships, our facilitation or our professional judgment. These commitments explain what that means for you.
1. A person is always accountable
A member of our team reviews and takes responsibility for all AI-supported work before it reaches you. We check outputs for accuracy, bias, stereotyping and exclusionary language. Anything that does not meet our equity standards is revised or discarded.
2. Your information stays private
We do not enter client names, client data or employee data into AI tools. The one exception is note-taking that you have agreed to (see commitment 5). Any other material is anonymized or generalized first, and when in doubt, we leave it out.
3. Knowledge shared in trust stays out of AI
We never enter Indigenous knowledge, oral teachings, community knowledge or Elder guidance into AI tools. This applies to every team member, contractor and specialist we work with.
4. We do not allow your material to train AI tools
We choose tools carefully, turn off training and data-sharing settings where they are available, and review those settings every six months. We keep a list of approved tools, and only approved tools are used.
5. Note-taking only with your consent
We may ask to use AI note-taking tools (i.e. Otter, Zoom AI Companion) to support accuracy and accessibility.
We ask in advance and confirm at the start of each session.
You can decline at any time. We will then take notes by hand or offer another accessible option.
Transcripts are stored only in approved tools and shared only with those who need them.
Transcripts are deleted within 30 days after our engagement ends, or sooner if you ask.
6. Where we use AI, and where we do not
We use AI for drafting and editing, research on public sources, brainstorming, and administrative tasks. We do not use AI to make decisions about individuals (i.e. hiring, performance, compensation).
7. We tell you upfront
We state our AI practices in our proposals and contracts, so you know how AI may be used in your engagement before it begins.
8. We hold ourselves accountable
Our team members and contractors follow these commitments as a condition of working with us. Concerns or possible breaches are raised with our Founder and Executive Director right away. We review this policy every six months, because AI tools and standards keep changing and we are still learning too.
